World Menopause Day

In a woman’s life the menopause phase can be physically as well as emotionally challenging. For a woman to be able to cope up with this change , she needs to have education as well as social support. This has seen to be lacking many a time in the villages of rural India.

DHS did a drive to understand the level of awareness amongst women both in the Urban as well as rural areas. A systematic analytical process was used to determine the awareness level as well as the means that women were using to cope with this physical and emotional change.

A definite need is there in both urban and rural India to make women understand the changes that take place both to their physical as well as mental wellbeing. They need to be given reliable information on the impact of menopause that will do away with a number of myths that seem to be shared with them by the environment.

DHS devised a programme to be able to share relevant information and support women in rural communities to help cope with this change.
